A Holistic Focus on Living Well

ROSE & IVY A Holistic Focus on Living Well

Is anyone else with me in feeling the sentiment that 2020 has been a year that has made you really think? I have been reflecting on many things—racial injustice, what I consume, climate—and on a lighter note the premise of what goes into living well. For me it means practicing mindfulness, eating whole foods, helping others and living with authenticity and intention. Over the past year or so, a lot has happened behind the scenes at R&I—some good but also some bad. At times I felt like I was being pushed in one direction that didn’t feel right to me. Truth be told it was my own fault because so much was new to me and I felt like a novice the majority of the time that left me feeling terribly uncomfortable. I just nodded my head and went along with it. I was craving more depth, like I always do, but realized that I am guiding this ship and I can change course. So that’s what I have been doing and will continue to do. If this year has taught us anything, it’s brought to the forefront a lot of truths, welcome or not. Fluff is great, when you want a dash of inspiration here or there, but I think overall, what I crave is realness and honest conversations. If you have read any interviews that I have done, I am not interested in material things, rather, I like to find out what moves people, what motivates them to be at their best while talking honestly about trials, tribulations and triumphs. You can expect even more of that to come from ROSE & IVY in the future.

One thing that I have always been passionate about is what we put into our bodies and eating well. At times, I was a self-proclaimed health nut and I had developed an unhealthy obsession with it in my 20s, but now in my late 30s I have come to more of a peace with concentrated on quality more than anything else. It became even more so when I was diagnosed with MS. I am going to start talking to a range of people who also advocate for healthy eating and nutrition as part of a broader message of living a happy and healthy life.
