MEET THE Founder

ALISON ENGSTROM

Based in Brooklyn, New York, magazines have always been in Alison Engstrom’s blood. From her very first discovery of her mother’s Vogue magazines she was entranced. Her love for fashion and design prompted her to pursue a degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Charleston in Art History.  Her studies also took her to Paris, where she studied at the Sorbonne and the American University of Paris.  Years later, her career twisted and turned in the beauty industry, but her passion for print never faded.

It wasn’t until a diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis in 2014 that made her realize that life can bestow upon you unexpected new realities that you can either let define you or you can defy them.  It was then that she decided to take a chance on her dream and start ROSE  & IVY Journal in October 2014, as a digital magazine, which eventually translated to print with Issue No.05. The goal with the magazine is simple, to inspire through beautiful content with design that is uncluttered and inspiring.  She is a self-taught photographer and stylist.

Besides being a passionate advocate for print media, Alison Engstrom hopes to inspire other women who may encounter any type of obstacles, whether it be a disease or a major setback in life, to keep moving forward to live their best life and pursue their dreams.
