French Country Cooking: Meals and Moments from a Village in the Vineyards by Mimi Thorisson

I would be lying if I didn't want to jump into each and every photograph posted by Manger's Mimi and Oddur Thorisson.  Her bucolic life in Médoc, France is filled with food, family and beautiful scenery.   In her second book, the follow-up to her debut cookbook, My Kitchen in France: A Year of Cooking in My Farmhouse, she releases French Country Cooking: Meals and Moments from a Village in the Vineyards, on October 25th. Each page is the unfolding of her 'pop-up' restaurant, 1 rue de Loudenne (I'd love to go!) and includes a series of dishes served, like Forest Pie, Kale & Sausage Pasta and Swiss Chard Gratin.  If you are looking to boost your cooking skills à la Française, pick up this beautiful book!

Tasting Rome: Fresh Flavors & Forgotten Recipes from an Ancient City by Katie Parla and Kristina Gill

Rome is undoubtedly one of the best food cities in Italy, which is why I am incredibly excited to cook my way through this new book dedicated to the Eternal City.   This cookbook takes you through the fundamentals of a Roman kitchen and includes recipes for snacks, classic dishes (Carbonara, anyone?) and the secrets to Roman pizza (my favorite).  Plus, the photography is just beautiful! I recommend looking through this book on a lazy Sunday afternoon, where you decide to spend the rest of your day in the kitchen surrounded by Italian goodness.

Martha Stewart's Vegetables: Inspired Recipes and Tips for Choosing, Cooking and Enjoying the Freshest Seasonal Flavors by Martha Stewart Living Editors

The farmers market is my little 'urban' escape every weekend.  Each Saturday, I get up early, take the bike  about a mile down the road in Brooklyn and stock pile as much vegetables and fruit that I can carry.  Not only do I love feeding myself with nutritional goodness, but I love how pretty they look arranged on a table (I am sure that you see this on the R&I Instagram!).  Truth be told, I love eating vegetables mostly raw, but to give me even more inspiration this time of year,  I am turning to the latest book dedicated to vegetables from Martha Stewart's editors.   The book is separated by category - 'greens', 'shoots', 'pods', etc and include recipes like, Leek & Parsnip Soup, Beet Risotto with Beet Root Greens and Garlic Scape Toasts.  This book elevates the humble vegetable to all-star status.  If you are looking to increase the amount you are eating, I recommend picking up this new book!
