A Day of Gratitude | Thanksgiving Ideas & Recipes
My ideal menu for Thanksgiving must include all of the favorites - turkey, whipped mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, in addition to a few other dishes to round everything out. To piggyback onto yesterday's post Setting a Thanksgiving Table, here are all of the delicious recipes that will take you through the Thanksgiving holiday and even through the new year. I wanted to incorporate all of the staples but add an unexpected twist, whether it be coating the turkey in rich maple syrup, adding crispy leeks atop mashed potatoes or taking the traditional pumpkin pie and serving them in ramekins. Read below for some tips that will help you have a seamless holiday. Cheers to a delicious feast!
Tips for Prepping for the Big Day
Make a List: Shopping for the day before Thanksgiving is never a good idea, stores can be incredibly busy and may run out of supplies leaving you without the items that you are looking for. Shop five days before, if possible for the basics - turkey, potatoes, butter, flour, sugar, etc and buy the produce and floral arrangements that you need two days before.
Time it Out: Plan out the menu and place in order of what takes the longest, like the turkey. Bake the pie a day in advance so that you can keep the oven open for any dishes that you need to keep warm, like mashed potatoes, once guests begin arriving.
Prepping the Table: Ready the linens and plates a few days in advance incase anything needs pressing. Be sure to have extra napkins on hand in case there are spills or a few extra guests arrive for dinner.
