WOW Experiences: Learning the Art of Wine and Port

Since Porto is the capital of Portuguese wine—the country boasts more than 250 grape varietals—there couldn’t be a better location to fully submerge yourself in the art of enology. While The Wine Experience showcases the fundamentals, The Wine School offers monthly training sessions and formal classes geared towards both professionals and novices. Visitors can also drop-in, and based upon the amount of time they have, sample wines from Portugal with an on-site expert.

So What exactly is Port Wine?

Port is a fortified wine produced in the demarcated Douro region of Portugal. There isn’t any sugar added, its flavor is rendered from pure grapes and it’s typically enjoyed with dessert.
