Unique Spaces | Oaxen Slip, A Rustic Nautical Restaurant in Stockholm

Oaken Slip is a wonderful spot in Stockholm’s Djurgården neighborhood that is perched right on the water serving brunch, lunch and dinner. The light-filled space juxtaposes different design elements like ridged aluminum walls with cozy tufted leather seating and stadium style wood seating. As in pretty much all restaurants in Scandinavia, the serving ware is also noteworthy. Here there is an eclectic mix of vintage plates, which sit next to rich chocolate brown ceramics. The piece de resistance is the weathered blue boat that suspends over the bar and adds a major visual impact. The menu here is a rift on Swedish bistro dishes. Try the norrøna herring, a succulent piece of fish served on warm potato salad with browned butter and hazelnuts, or the fennel confit accompanied by Swedish cheese.
