Escape to Iceland | All the Wild Horses
Never have I encountered such a soulful creature as the Icelandic horse. These beautifully majestic animals have the ability to bring tears to your eyes. While they are not technically 'wild' their untamed beauty are some of the most memorable moments from my trip to Southern Iceland. They are hardy and are at the mercy of the country's weather that can change on a whim; we saw them drenched after a sudden rainfall, among freshly fallen snow and during some amazing sunsets. They have such great personalities - some loved humans, while others were a bit more timid. They were loving towards each other too, from the mother with her pony to the duo that were 'love' biting each other. One thing is for sure, when they walk towards you with their hair blowing in the wind, you will be moved in a very profound way.

Where to See Horses
Before heading to Iceland, I had a preconceived notion that they were in fact wild and rare. Luckily, along the Ring Road in the south, they were spotted very often.

Tethered with tears in their eyes
May no man’s touch ever tame you
May no man’s reins ever chain you
And may no man’s weight ever lay freight your soul”
