Garden Dreamer | Middleton Place in the Spring
It would be fair to say that Middleton Place is one my favorite places Stateside. It is romantic, old world and charming in so many ways. Still reflecting pools, narrow alleys lined with perfectly carved boxwoods, Spanish moss dangling from the old Wild Oak trees are just a few of the reasons that I love it so much. For the fifth issue in the Journal, I traveled there, but it was in November when the warm weather blooms had faded and large blossoms of camellias were providing a colorful blanket on the grass. My recent trip to Charleston, I had to go back. The weather was bit less cooperative than it was the first time, but once the sky broke and rain turned into a river at some points in the garden, the sun dramtically creeped out from behind the clouds illuminating the ponds. It was just heavenly. Here is a peak inside of this magnificent place.
