A Taste of New York | Ovenly
In a city as big as New York, it’s hard to play favorites when it comes to bakeries, but with Ovenly, it was love at first bite, whether savoring a slice of their ultra-rich Brooklyn Blackout Cake or nibbling on one of their you’d-never-guess- it’s-vegan chocolate chip cookies. The Ovenly story started in 2010 when friends Erin Patinkin and Agatha Kulag combined their mutual love of sweet and savory treats into this award-winning bakery. Since opening their first store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, they’ve expanded to three locations (with more to come) plus a flourishing wholesale business. And the best part is, their confections can be enjoyed by everyone, since they offer many options that are dairy-free and gluten-free, like their Salted Peanut Butter Cookie or Pistachio Cardamom Bread. We visited their newest location in Brooklyn’s Park Slope to sample their Sticky Donut Cake, a heavenly cross between a sticky bun and a donut, along with a Cardamom Honey Latté. The verdict? Let’s just say that if a bakery were ever to achieve world domination, we’d bet on Ovenly.
