A Tale of a Sleeping Beauty | Cortijo del Marqués, Spain

When a ROSE & IVY travel story is in the planning phase, one of the most important aspects is to find special places that evoke a sense of magic that you cannot find anywhere else. This is the case of Cortijo del Marqués, a place dripping in history, beauty and yes, magic. Rediscovering these photographs tugs at my heart strings, it was somewhere that I didn't want to leave. The owners Silvia and Eilko are the gracious hosts that purchased the dilapidated property a few years back. It is the dream that many have, finding a country home in a foreign land and restoring it to its former glory. There story is inspiring and leaving was one of the hardest parts of my time in Spain.

The property is stretches far amid fields of hundred year old olive trees, perfectly gnarled and fiery poppy flowers that undulate down the hill with the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountain range in the distance. Everywhere you turned, it was a postcard in front of your eyes. If you are looking to immerse yourself in history, beauty, delicious food and relaxation, book your trip to this slice of heaven.
