Summer in the City

ROSE & IVY Journal Summer in the City

The other day I walked into a store in midtown Manhattan and was frightened both literally and physically - they were fully stocked with Halloween items for the home.  I would have turned around, but I needed to refill my Nespresso supply, so I clamored to the back of the store in, albeit, disgust.  It is more than two months away from Halloween. Why is the retail world in such a rush?  Can't we just enjoy and savor the wonderful time of year that is summer?

That being said, summer in New York is pure magic.  New Yorkers idle in the park for hours, leisurely spend time by the rivers and eating outside is a must, especially on a summer evening.  I have a busy schedule that doesn't allow for me to spend as much time in Central Park as I once did, plus I live in Brooklyn, so when I do have time you can usually find me at Brooklyn Bridge Park.  Before I was frightened by the sight of Halloween, I needed some inspiration, so I decided to head up to the Park with my camera and just shoot freely.  I love Central Park, ask any New Yorker, it has the ability to lower blood pressure!  Here are some images that capture the free-spirited mood of the season in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
