Petal by Petal | Tuberose 'Polianthes tuberosa'
If only you could smell the heavenly scent of tuberose through your computer screen. Instead of going to the flower market over the weekend, I opted to go local by buying flowers at the farmer's market. I came across a few stems of creamy and hypnotically scented Tuberose. Chances are if you love white floral fragrances, it is laced with some form of tuberose. Contrary to its name, it is not related to the rose, rather this flower blooms at night giving off a powerful scent. Atop of the long green stem, which can reach 18-inches long, is a cluster of white flowers with six petals each that blooms in the late summer to early fall. I put this stem right next to my bed, I like to think it gave me sweet dreams.
