A taste of New York | Aux Merveilleux de Fred, West Village
Today I am excited to introduce a new column called 'A Taste of New York', where I will profile some of my favorite places to eat and drink in New York, in addition to my search for the next best thing. So let's begin with Aux Merveilleux de Fred, a patisserie from Paris that recently opened on Hudson Street in the West Village. My first discovery of this shop was while my husband and I were wandering the streets of Paris and stumbled across this beautiful bakery with an eye-catching chandelier. Once we were lured inside, we ordered and devoured a delicious sugared brioche (life-changing if you ask me) that was freshly plucked from the oven. It was heaven. However, what they are know for, hence the name is the merveilleux, a delightful bite-size pastry that consists of a meringue base, topped with whipped cream and rolled in something delicious like chopped chocolate, praline or coconut. This bakery is definitely worth the stop and just a fair warning, they also serve the fresh out of the oven sugared brioche, which is out of this world!
