ROSE & IVY JOurnal Eckart Tolle on Winning

I don't have that much time to read for leisure purposes, unfortunately, which is why I am excited that I finally discovered podcasts. I know, I have been living under a rock.  I have mostly been listening to inspirational talks, meditations and positive affirmations that I love listening to while I am on the subway. I read Eckart Tolle's The Power of Now, years ago before I was ready for it and couldn't grasp the idea of living in the now.  Don't ask, it was a bad time.  Fast forward a few years later and I stumbled across a podcast with the one and only Oprah that goes through each chapter (there are ten of them) of another book that he wrote called A New Earth: Awakening Your Life's Purpose. I am fascinated by the book so far and while there have been so many 'aha' moments, one of my favorite was the story that he told with the important lesson being - 'The need to win drains you of your power'.

I am been guilty of this so many times. I would try so hard to be the best or try to 'win' at something and fall flat on my face. I was so intent on the final result that I lost track on what I was doing in the first place.  He goes on to say 'Your passion will become stress if you focus on where you want to get to'.  I too often saw the destination but never the mile markers along the way.  I would get caught up and feel defeated because I wasn't where I thought that I should be.  Things in life take time and do not necessarily happen when you want them to happen. Does this resonate with you and your goals that you are trying to achieve in life?
