Magic in the Making: Château de Gudanes

CHÂTEAU DE GUDANES

I will forever be enchanted by castles (which is evident from my growing Pinterest board here).  Perhaps it was my fascination with watching movies like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and then discovering castles in person that truly enraptured me.   I recently discovered Château de Gudanes, an 18th century castle located in the South of France town, Château Verdun that is currently being renovated by an Australian couple.  The château was on the market for many years. It was dilapidated - the roof was broken in multiple places,  mold was a plenty and floors had collapsed.  It was this husband and wife team  that saw the potential that lied beneath the surface.  They began the process of restoration last November and the work thus far has been remarkable.  You can see the entire process documented on Instagram.  In 2016, the Château will open to the public and will boast hotel rooms, workshops, conferences and a beautiful wedding venue.  If you would like to learn how you can help with the restoration click here.
